Who’s Comfort?

comfort
: to give strength and hope to
: to come alongside with strength

Yes, its true, my first name really is Comfort and my last name really is Price. Comfort is my birth-name and I happened to marry a “Price”. Its the first question people always ask me so I figured I would get it out of the way!

My name either shaped me or was picked perfectly for me. I think there are two ways that my name fits me. First, I love everything “comfortable” and cozy – for example, I have to change into sweatpants within the first 5 minutes of getting home from work. I’m an informal and “comfortable” person.

Second, for my whole life, I have had a desire to reach my full potential as well as help others to reach their potential (see definition: to come alongside others with strength). This blog is hopefully a place where not only can I continue on the journey to being “comfortable” in my own skin, but also help you feel the same. Over the last few years I’ve readjusted my thinking on what being “comfortable” really means to me. I believe that we can still be comfortable with who we are and what we are doing, even if it means that life isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes this takes form of standing up for the things you believe in – justice, regeneration, love, compassion, etc. Fighting for justice is often not “comfortable” but because it is living out a value, it means that you can be comfortable with who you are and the direction of your life. My hope is by honestly sharing where I am right now, where I want to go and what I’m learning in the meantime, that we can come alongside each other in strength and pursue a life that has meaning and purpose. Thanks for joining me on this journey!

A little bit about me and why I’m writing this blog. I have a unique name and I have also had a unique life. These experiences have really shaped who I am, as all of your experiences have shaped you. This blog is an outlet for me to record and interact with the things that I am learning. I love to learn in spurts so my blog will most likely be “eclectic” to say it nicely. My purpose is to hopefully encourage other people who may seek motivation, strength and/or “comfort”.

My journey to becoming Comfort:

I was born in Kenya. I lived there until I was 4 years old, the age my daughter is when I started this blog! I had so many good memories and I can see how much it has affected my life and worldview.

After that we lived in California for a couple years while my parents were getting their Masters Degrees. From there we moved to the Washington D.C. area where I spent 1st grade through high school.

In high school, I met my future husband, and we have been together ever since! We both went to college in Indiana and then moved out to Montana while my he was working on his PhD in Astrophysics at MSU. After a couple years of living in Bozeman, I started a marketing agency in 2006 and have been building it ever since.

I hope you enjoy reading my eclectic posts of all of my meandering thoughts!
